The Olson Technology LASERPLUS High Density Two-Way Optical Transmission System is a high performance product family, comprised of a 3RU chassis, single or dual power supplies, 1310 nm DFB forward path optical transmitter and 1310/1550 nm return path optical receiver. It is specifically designed for use in CATV transmission systems where headend rack space is limited and/or where system design is based on the use of one transmitter to one or two nodes @ 10 dB path loss (or less). This cost-effective package utilizes many of the very latest RF and optical circuit design techniques to provide required system performance levels, while dramatically reducing component size and powering requirements.

A comprehensive lineup of DFB laser offerings provides superior performance over a wide range of optical budgets to 21-25dB, allowing unrepeatered spans of over 60-70km (38-45 miles) when used in conjunction with high performance, highsensitivity node receivers like the Olson Technology Models OTPN-1000 or OTMN-II. The Olson Technology model OTD-3000 is a full featured agile demodulator series that is available in four standards, NTSC, PAL B/G, PAL I, and PAL D. The OTD-3000 will demodulate NTSC frequencies from 55.25MHz (Ch. 2) to 801.25MHz (UHF Ch. 69), and PAL frequencies from 48.25MHz to 855.25MHz, including all cable channels. Sub-Band input and/or Remote Control capabilities are available as optional features. Locally controlled channel selection is by front panel DIP switches.

The Olson Technology agile OTM-3550 modulator is a full feature, SAW filtered unit that is available in four standards; NTSC, PAL B/G, PAL I and PAL D. The OTM-3550 provides high level (+60dBmV) outputs on any channel from ch. 2 (55.25MHz) through ch. PPP (547.25MHz). Sub-Band output capabilities, and remote controllability are offered as options. All channels are selectable by front panel DIP switches including F.C.C offsets. Features such as >80dB out-of-band C/N ratio; (which allows unlimited numbers of the OTM-3550 to be combined without the need for external bandpass filters), BTSC stereo compatibility, along with low power consumption (14 watts typical) all combine to make the OTM-3550 Series a modulator that offers not only high performance, but excellent reliability as well.

The Olson Technology frequency agile OTR-3550 offers the ultimate in flexibility. It will select any input channel from channel 2 VHF through channel 69 UHF, including all cable channels through 470MHz, and will select high level (+60dBmV) outputs on any channel from channel 2 through channel PPP (547.25MHz). All input and output channels are selectable by front panel DIP switch. The OTR-3550 offers such features as >80dB out-of-band carrier to noise ratio, which allows unlimited numbers of the OTR-3550 to be combined without the need for external bandpass filters. The OTR-3550 functions automatically with BTSC stereo or monaural audio carriers.

The Olson Technology Model OTOA-1000 provides 1dB though 7dB of step-variable attenuation (i.e. @ 1dB steps) for 1310nm signals via standard simplex 9/125 yellow nonplenum riser jacketed singlemode fiber cable. Results may vary with other wavelengths and types of fiber cable. The OTOA-1000 is the perfect companion to the Olson Technology, Inc. PremiseNode Models OTPN-x and MetroNode Models OTMN-x optical node/receiver product families, but is also designed to operate with optical node/receivers from most leading manufacturers.

The Olson Technology Model OLRT/OLRR Rugged L-Band Link offers a high performance, versatile transport link in a very compact and rugged package. The Rugged L-Band Link has been engineered to meet today's high performance standards for L-Band transport with an extreme bandwidth range that will also allow the system to handle the next generation of satellite signals. The Olson OLRT/OLRR is ideal for a wide variety of communications applications, including LBand satellite antenna remoting, trunking radio, telemetry tracking, and time and frequency reference distribution. The standard frequency range is 500MHz to 3,000MHz. The extended frequency range option of 10MHz to 3.6GHz allows this system to accommodate additional transponders coinciding with common European satellite communication applications.

While AC uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) have become ubiquitous in maintaining power to critical computer, network and communications applications, to date there has not been an equivalent DC UPS that can provide similar power backup functions for critical CATV and communications elements that are typically powered by low-voltage DC power.
