off-air or CATV channel processing.
Drake VMM860AG
The Drake VMM860AG is an agile, high quality, vestigial
sideband, heterodyne audio/video modulator with
synthesized visual and aural carriers. One to twelve
modulators or other accessories can be mounted in the
same amount of rack space typically required for two
standard size units. Ideally suited for private cable, hotels
and motels, institutional, and SMATV applications, the
VMM860AG accepts video and audio baseband signals
from a satellite receiver, TV camera, videotape recorder, TV
demodulator, or similar signal sources.
Drake MQM1000
The R. L. Drake model MQM1000 is a professional quality, digital headend transcoder that accepts one or twoMPEG2 digital inputs via two Asynchronous Serial Input (ASI) connectors. These signals must be ATSC compatible streams if multiplexing is to be performed and usually will have originated from a local TV broadcast station and may have been transported over fiber links to the MQM1000. After multiplexing and null packet management, theMQM1000 QAM modulates and up converts onto any desired CATV or off-air output channel between 54 and 1002MHz. The MQM1000 can also operate as a non-multiplexing QAM modulator when a single ASI input is selected.
Drake SCT2860

Up to ten SCT2860 modules and a power supply module can be accommodated in the RMT150 rack mounting tray, occupying only a 2 unit (3.5"¯) high rack space. TheSCT2860 can transcode DigiCipher II or DVB digital satellite signals, included those with advance turbo satellite FEC modes, outputting QAM modulation.
Drake DSE24
The Drake DSE24 will encode a single uncompressed program derived from devices with HDMI, Component Video or VGA outputs to HD MPEG2 video. An internal QAM modulator and low noise upconverter allows existing legacy fiber/coax networks to be used as distribution channels for digital signage content. This provides instant access to an extensive network of digital displays capable of viewing valuable advertiser based or informational video in a vibrant “High Definition"¯ format.
Drake HDE24
The Drake HDE24 high-definition encoder module generates an MPEG2 or MPEG4 (H.264)
video stream, with Dolby® AC-3 or MPEG1 layer 2 audio. This module is designed to be
installed into Drake's EH24 or MEQ1000-style chassis which provides the control and output interface to the unit.
Drake EH24/SDE24
The Drake Digital™ EH24 platform is a 19" rack-mountable 2RU chassis that accepts up to six real-time Drake Digital™ SDE24 MPEG2/MPEG4 video encoder modules. The Drake Digital™ SDE24 MPEG encoders contain two video encoders each, enabling the Drake Digital™ EH24 to accept 12 different video input sources/channels to be multiplexed after encoding (when populated with six SDE24 modules). The EH24 accepts any number of SDE24 modules (1-6) adding two video programs per module.
Drake DAD860
The Drake model DAD860 Digital to Analog Decoder is a digital demodulator and decoder, for ATSC 8VSB broadcast or in-the-clear QAM television signals, that delivers a standard NTSC composite analog video and stereo audio output.
This device, used in conjunction with an analog NTSC modulator, allows a cable system operator to continue to
provide analog versions of services that will only be available to him as digital in the future. It may also be utilized to
provide the alternate digital channels now available from many broadcasters. The DAD860 is packaged in an extruded aluminum module that is compatible with the Drake RMM12 or RMM4 rack
mounting units normally used for our analog mini-rack components. The Drake DAD860 is one unit wide and thus takes one
of 12 available slots in the RMM12. There is a companion controller, the DAD860 Controller, that can be used to
program and monitor between one and ten DAD860 modules. The controller module is two units wide as mounted in
the RMM12.

Drake DQT1000
The R. L. Drake model DQT1000 is a professional quality, digital headend transcoder product
that tunes and demodulates MPEG2 or H.264 encoded VSB or QAM modulated signals from
an off-air broadcast or CATV source or accepts an ASI input source. After error correction, it
remodulates and upconverts the recovered MPEG2 transport stream onto a new QAM
modulated digital output channel.
The standard Drake DQT1000 is supplied with two tuner/demodulators. The DQT1000 may also be
special ordered with a single tuner/demodulator. For these units, a second tuner/
demodulator module is also available by special order. An optional ASI input module is also
available as a field installable option. If a DQT1000 is configured with two tuner/
demodulators and an ASI input module, only Tuner/Demod A and one of the other inputs
may be used and multiplexed at one time. These options may be added to the standard
Drake DQT1000, all within the DQT1000 chassis. The output section of the DQT1000 consists of a
QAM modulator with an agile RF upconverter with an output of up to 61 dBmV that tunes
from 54 to 1002 MHz.
Drake VM2860 & VM2862
The Drake monaural VM2860 agile modulator offers identical performance without stereo sound or the ability to add SAP audio. Drake now offers superior stereo audio performance and extensive channel capacity with the VM2862 BTSC MTS stereo modulator. An optional secondary audio program (SAP) module may be field installed in the VM2862. As quality American made products from Drake, long recognized for manufacturing products of enduring quality and reliability, the VM2862 and VM2860 are
designed and engineered to surpass the most demanding engineering requirements with frequency coverage up to 860 MHz.
Drake MEQ1000
The R.L. Drake model MEQ1000 is a commercial grade multiplexing EDGE QAM modulator. This unit is ideal for installations where only one QAM output is required from each Edge QAM chassis. The MEQ1000 features plug in input modules that include an ATSC/QAM input tuner, an ASI input , an IP input, and analog NTSC inputs. This manual includes the DTD1000 tuner and ASII. Other input modules will have instructions provided with them. The MEQ1000 has two input module slots and the outputs interface to the MEQ1000 multiplexer, internally, where they are MPEG program filtered, multiplexed, and groomed. Programs, among the total group from input module A and input module B, may be selected or not selected by the operator to be sent to the QAM modulator. A maximum of 20 programs may be selected. Also, the total bit rate of the selected programsmust not exceed that of the output QAM channel capacity. This same filtered stream is output via the rear panel ASI output jack.
